Girls Softball - Junior Division - 105011

Junior Softball designed for beginner softball players, to teach them the fundamentals of softball. Among teammates of their own age, players will learn the basic skills of the game, including throwing, catching, and hitting. This is a coach-pitch league and special rules and equipment are applied for the development and welfare of this young age group.

Eligibility: 7 and 8 years old. Participants must be at least 7 years old and not turning 9 on or before program start date. Must provide copy of birth certificate or legal guardianship if not submitted previously.

Schedule: Practices begin in April 6 (depending on field conditions) with games beginning in April 13 and continuing until June 1. Games will be played mainly on Saturday at 9:30am with the occasional weeknight game at 6pm. Throughout the season, practices will be scheduled at the discretion of coaches. Location: Greenwich Town fields: coaches will notify players of times and locations of practices and games. Game schedules will be provided.

Fees: Greenwich Resident $167, Non-Resident $187. There are no refunds and we do not pro-rate fees. Requests for credit will only be considered if received in writing, prior to the start of the program. There is a $20 administrative fee for credits and a $25 fee for any returned checks.

Participant Information:
Players must bring their own glove, bat, and water bottle. (Team helmets are provided, but players may bring their own). No metal cleats or jewelry.
Team shirts and socks will be provided.

Teams: Requests for team assignments are not guaranteed and will only be considered if submitted 3 weeks prior to the program start date. Players will be assigned to a house/rec team based on age and school/home location. Final teams will be confirmed after coaches’ meeting. Our aim is to balance teams while also providing a fun experience for players. Volunteer coaches with a child registered will coach the team to which his/her child has been assigned.

Registration: Online registration begins February 1.

Residency may be submitted after January 1 and must be verified prior to registration; please allow up to five (5) business days. Verify Residency for the calendar year

Beginning February 15, Non-Residents may mail in the Registration Form and required documents. Please only mail in a current year Registration Form. Previous year remains available for information only.

Volunteer Coaches: Are essential to this program; without them there is a possibility your child may not have a team to play on.
Acceptance of ALL applicants and number of teams depends on the number of coaches.
Sign up is available during registration.
Team coaches will also be subject to a background check.
Anyone interested in being a coach must attend the scheduled meeting.

Photos: The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to use program or event photographs including participants in official Town of Greenwich media only (Website, newsletter, flyers and advertisements, Facebook, and/or Instagram). Please contact the Recreation Office if you object to the use of photographs of you or your child(ren) in Town media.

Sponsors: Anyone who would like to sponsor a team should email Andrew Karen .
The cost is $500 and the proceeds benefit the Recreation Fund. Checks must be made payable to the “Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation.” Sponsors will receive their logo and/or business information on the team uniform, the league schedule, and logo with hyperlink on our sports recreation website.

General Activity Waitlist Policy
Once maximum enrollment has been reached for activity registration, a participant may elect to be placed on a waitlist. Should additional registration spots become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted in numerical order. Once contacted, if the person is still interested in enrollment in the activity, they will have two business days to make payment for the activity fee. If complete payment is not made within two business days, that person will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the waitlist will be contacted. If the waitlisted person is no longer interested in registering for the activity, then the next person on the waitlist will immediately be contacted. Additionally, if the waitlisted person declines to respond to the Department of Parks and Recreation within two business days, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.
