Group Ice Skating Lessons

Ages
4 years (must be four by the first day of class) to Adult.

Fees
Please see fees listed in the Activity below. Please note the year, fees subject to change.

Dates
Session 1 Beginning Tuesday, October 15, to Monday, December 16, 2024
Session 2 Beginning Thursday, January 2, to Wednesday, March 3, 2025
Class fees include eight 30 minute sessions, as well as four (4) practice sessions during a public session and badge testing.
(No sessions Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.)

Skating School Programs

Mommy, Daddy and Me
Ages 3 & 4 years. Must be three by the first day of class.
Must be accompanied by an adult guardian who skates.

Snowplow Sam
Ages 4 & 5 years. Must be four by the first day of class.
Snowplow Sam 1 is for children who have never been on the ice.
Snowplow Sam 2/3 is for children who have been on the ice before and have good forward movement.

Youth
Ages 5 - 15 years
The classes will follow U.S.F.S.A badge programs and teach the students the fundamental skills for each level of skating.
Children must pass each level to continue to the next. Please see requirements to pass each skill level in link Skill Level

Adults
Ages 16 and over
Adult classes will follow the U.S.F.S.A badge programs for classes offered in basic skating, dance, patch and freestyle.

Staff
The Greenwich Skating School is under the direction of Nancy Leamy, who holds the rating of two-time National and International Coach by the U.S.F.S.A.

What to wear/bring
Hats, gloves or mittens, a warm coat, snow pants for younger children, and helmets for less experienced skaters are recommended.
Skate rentals are NOT included in the price of the lesson.

Skate Rentals available, for a fee of $6 per pair/per session, (socks must be worn)

Skate Sharpening overnight service, drop off by 9 p.m. for next day availability, for a fee of $8 (regular sharpening).

Registration
Online registration, Session 1 begins September 1 and closes October 6, or when the program has filled; space is limited.

Online registration, Session 2 begins November 15 and closes December 31, or when the program has filled; space is limited.

Residency may be submitted after January 1 and must be verified prior to registration, (if not previously provided for this year); please allow up to five (5) business days.
Verify Residency for the calendar year.

Beginning September 15, (Session 1) may mail in the Registration Form and required documents.

Beginning November 15, (Session 2) may mail in the Registration Form and required documents.

Private Lessons
Scheduled through the Rink Voicemail System: 203-531-8560.
All skaters taking private lessons, regardless of age, must pay an admission fee in addition to the private lesson fee. Private lessons are not available during public sessions.

Greenwich Parks and Recreation is committed to making our youth activities accessible to all youth of Greenwich. To this end, the Department has established a youth scholarship program which provides financial assistance to qualifying residents.
