Field Hockey will focus on the fundamentals of field hockey through practices and games. 1st and 2nd graders will be introduced to the sport in a fun, inclusive, and positive clinic format. 3rd and 4th graders will focus on fundamentals and gain a general understanding of basic game play in an instructional clinic and small-sided scrimmage format.
Games will be scheduled with other Town teams for grades 5 through 8 in the Fairfield County Field Hockey League.

Eligibility: This program is for participants in grades 1 through 8. Must be entering 1st grade and not starting 9th grade by the start of school year. Proof of age required.

Schedule: Program runs on Sundays from September 8 through October 20. Rain date is Sunday, October 27 and November 3. All participants will play mostly on Sundays for a practice, scrimmage, or game scheduled. There could be an occasional away game on a Saturday, depending on the host team’s field availability. Greenwich will host all games and practices on Sundays. There may also be occasional practices scheduled during the week (Wednesday evenings) for grades 5 - 8. Game schedules and weather updates will be available on our Recreation Sports website at: Team Sideline. You can sign up for automated e-mail and/or text alerts from this website.

Location: Sunday practices and home games will be played on Benvenuto Field (turf) at Cos Cob Park (22 Sound Shore Drive, Cos Cob, CT).

Fees:
• Section A1: Resident: $142 and Non-Resident $162
• Section A2: Resident: $167 and Non-Resident $187
• Section A3 & A4: Resident: $182 and Non-Resident $202

There are no refunds and we do not pro-rate fees. Requests for credit will only be considered if received in writing, prior to the start of the program. There is a $20 administrative fee for credits and a $25 fee for any returned checks.

Participant Information:
• Mouth guard, eye guard, and shin guards must be worn.
• Bring water bottle to field with your name on it.
• Players in 1st and 2nd grade are provided with sticks and balls that are returned after each Sunday session.
• Players in grades 3 - 8 must bring their own stick and ball. Everything must be well marked with players’ name.
• Shirts will be provided to all participants.

Staff: Experienced staff will provide instruction and coaching. All staff are required to complete a background check.

Teams: Participants will be placed on teams for games and scrimmages. Requests for teams are not guaranteed and will only be considered if submitted 3 weeks prior to the program start date. Players will be assigned to a team based on grade.

Checks must be made payable to the “Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation.” Sponsors will receive their logo and/or business information on the team uniform, the league schedule, and logo with hyperlink on our sports recreation website.

General Activity Waitlist Policy
Once maximum enrollment has been reached for activity registration, a participant may elect to be placed on a waitlist. Should additional registration spots become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted in numerical order. Once contacted, if the person is still interested in enrollment in the activity, they will have two business days to make payment for the activity fee. If complete payment is not made within two business days, that person will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the waitlist will be contacted. If the waitlisted person is no longer interested in registering for the activity, then the next person on the waitlist will immediately be contacted. Additionally, if the waitlisted person declines to respond to the Department of Parks and Recreation within two business days, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.
