Small Fry II - 10401

Small Fry II is an instructional baseball league for 7 year-olds. Coach-pitching and instruction throughout game play is incorporated for continued learning. *An advanced T-Ball League is offered for 6 year-olds – see “Small Fry I” registration online. Additionally, a division for 8 & 9 year-olds is available: “Junior Baseball.”

Eligibilty: MUST be 7 years old on/before April 30, 2024. 6 year-olds NOT turning 7 on/before April 30, 2024 participate in the Small Fry I League and 8 year-olds must enroll in the Junior Baseball League (see website for information and registration). Must provide copy of birth certificate or legal guardianship if not submitted for past programs(s).

Schedule: Begins on Saturday, April 13 (depending on field conditions) and continues until Saturday, June 8. The first week or two, all participants will report to their assigned practice field (Saturday practices scheduled in the a.m.). Games will commence at the end of April or early May and will be played mainly on Saturday mornings at various fields in Town. Game schedules will be emailed out at the start of the season. Once games begin, practices will be scheduled at the discretion of coaches. Teams will not meet more than two times per week for 1 practice and 1 game.

Location: Various Town fields, including Glenville, New Lebanon, & North Street Schools, and Loughlin Avenue..

Fees: Greenwich Resident $142 and Non-Residents $162. There are no refunds and we do not pro-rate fees. Requests for credit will only be considered if received in writing, prior to the start of the program. There is a $20 administrative fee for credits and a $25 fee for any returned checks.

Participant Information: Must wear sneakers or baseball cleats (rubber bottom only). Players supply their own fielding glove. A team bat and a few helmets are provided, but players are highly encouraged to have their own helmet. Team shirts and hats will be provided.

Teams: Every effort is made to assign players to a team based on school and/or home address location. We make NO GUARANTEES but will try to handle special requests or accommodations on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Our aim is to balance teams while also providing a fun experience for the children. Volunteer coaches with a child registered will coach the team to which his/her child is assigned.

Youth Scholarship Program: Parks and Recreation has established a youth scholarship program which provides financial assistance to qualifying residents.

Coaches: Volunteer coaches are ESSENTIAL to this program. Acceptance of ALL applicants and number of teams depends on the number of volunteer coaches. Coaches will be subject to a background check. Anyone interested in coaching must attend a mandatory meeting.

Photos: The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to use program or event photographs including participants in official Town of Greenwich media only (Website, newsletter, flyers and advertisements, Facebook, and/or Instagram). Please contact the Recreation Office if you object to the use of photographs of you or your child(ren) in Town media.

Sponsors: Anyone who would like to sponsor a team should email Patricia Troiano .
The cost is $500 and the proceeds benefit the Recreation Fund. Checks must be made payable to the “Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation.” Sponsors will receive their logo and/or business information on the team uniform, the league schedule, and logo with hyperlink on our sports recreation website.

General Activity Waitlist Policy
Once maximum enrollment has been reached for activity registration, a participant may elect to be placed on a waitlist. Should additional registration spots become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted in numerical order. Once contacted, if the person is still interested in enrollment in the activity, they will have two business days to make payment for the activity fee. If complete payment is not made within two business days, that person will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the waitlist will be contacted. If the waitlisted person is no longer interested in registering for the activity, then the next person on the waitlist will immediately be contacted. Additionally, if the waitlisted person declines to respond to the Department of Parks and Recreation within two business days, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.
