Spring Soccer - 10302

Spring Soccer is a fun, clinic-style program geared for all skill and ability levels. This program will focus on the fundamentals of soccer, which include passing, dribbling, trapping, and shooting through skill work and modified games.

Ages: 3 - 9 years old. Must be at least 3 years old and not turning 10 on or before the program start date. Proof of age required.

Schedule:Program runs on Saturdays from April 6 through June 1 (No soccer April 20). Game schedules and weather updates will be available on our Recreation Sports website at Team Sideline. You may sign up for automated e-mail and/or text alerts from this website. In addition, you may call the weather hotline number at 203-861-6100.

Location: Benvenuto Turf Field at Cos Cob Park.

Fees: Section A1 & A2: Verified Residents $142, Non-Residents $162. Sections A3 - A5: Verified Residents $157, Non-Residents $177.
There are no refunds and we do not pro-rate fees. Requests for credit will only be considered if received in writing, prior to the start of the program. There is a $20 administrative fee for credits and a $25 fee for any returned checks.

Participant Information: Players must wear shin guards. Players must provide their own soccer ball, labeled with their name. Size 3 ball for 3 & 4-year old’s, size 4 ball for everyone else. Players should wear shorts or warm-ups and sneakers. Cleats are not allowed on the turf. Players should bring a water bottle to the field. Participants will receive soccer jerseys on the first day of the program.

Teams: Requests for team assignments are not guaranteed and will only be considered if submitted in writing 3 weeks prior to the program start date. Players will be assigned to a team based on age and school/home location. Final teams will be confirmed after coaches’ meeting. Our aim is to balance teams while also providing a fun experience for players.

Registration: Online registration begins February 1.
You must be signed in to your account to register.
Residency may be submitted after January 1 and must be verified prior to registration; please allow up to five (5) business days. Verify Residency for the calendar year.

Beginning February 15, Non-Residents may mail in the Registration Form and required documents. Please only mail in a current year Registration Form. Previous year remains available for information only.

Youth Scholarship Program
Parks and Recreation has established a youth scholarship program which provides financial assistance to qualifying residents.

Volunteers are essential to this program; without them there is a possibility your child may not have a team to play on.
Sign up is available during registration.

Team Coaches: Volunteers will be needed to organize the kids on the field, run pre-game drills/exercises, and help enforce the rules for modified games.
We will have some soccer instructors help the team coaches.
Acceptance of ALL applicants and number of teams depends on the number of coaches.
Team coaches will also be subject to a background check.
Anyone interested in being a coach is encouraged to attend the informal meeting for first year coaches on: TBA. Location: TBA
Team jerseys will be handed out to all team coaches on the first day at the field 15 minutes before their session.

Photos: The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to use program or event photographs including participants in official Town of Greenwich media only (Website, newsletter, flyers and advertisements, Facebook, and/or Instagram). Please contact the Recreation Office if you object to the use of photographs and you or your child(ren) in Town media.

Sponsors: Anyone who would like to sponsor a team should contact Lea Clark at [email protected]. The fee is $500, and the proceeds benefit the Youth Scholarship Fund. Checks must be made payable to the “Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation.” Sponsors will receive their logo and/or business information on the team uniform, the league schedule, and logo with hyperlink on our sports recreation website.

General Activity Waitlist Policy
Once maximum enrollment has been reached for activity registration, a participant may elect to be placed on a waitlist. Should additional registration spots become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted in numerical order. Once contacted, if the person is still interested in enrollment in the activity, they will have two business days to make payment for the activity fee. If complete payment is not made within two business days, that person will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the waitlist will be contacted. If the waitlisted person is no longer interested in registering for the activity, then the next person on the waitlist will immediately be contacted. Additionally, if the waitlisted person declines to respond to the Department of Parks and Recreation within two business days, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.
