Summer Baseball - 20402

Summer Baseball A summer recreational league that incorporates having fun, teamwork, and good sportsmanship, while learning the game of baseball through game play. We offer three divisions that vary in the following way:
• Ages 6 & 7, Pinto: Instructional coach-pitch for beginners.
• Ages 8 & 9, Mustang: Combined player & coach pitching as well as instruction during game play.
• Ages 10-12, Bronco: Player pitch with formal playing structure and rules. Emphasis will be on skill advancement in baseball.
Players in the Mustang and Bronco divisions should have prior experience playing organized baseball.

Eligibility: Children ages 6 through 12 years old. Participants must be at least 6 years old and not turning 13 on or before program start date.

Schedule: Season will begin July 8 and continue until August 15. The Pinto division (ages 6 & 7) meets twice a week, at the same time and location, and on the same days each week for a combined practice followed by a modified game. Mustang (ages 8 & 9) and Bronco (ages 10-12) will have individual team practices scheduled at the discretion of the coaches and will play 1-2 games per week, weeknights at 5:30 p.m.

Location: Various Town fields including, but not limited to, North Street School, New Lebanon School, Cos Cob School, North Mianus School, Christiano Park, Loughlin Avenue, and Moretti Field.

Fees: Resident A1: $142 Non-resident A1: $162 Resident A2 & A3: $162 Non-resident A2 & A3: $182.

There are no refunds and we do not pro-rate fees. Requests for credit will only be considered if received in writing, prior to the start of the program.
There is a $20 administrative fee for cancellation credits.

Participant Information:
• Players must bring their own helmet, glove, and bat.
• Catcher’s equipment, baseballs, and team shirt and hat are provided.
• No metal cleats.

Teams: Requests for team assignments are not guaranteed and will only be considered if submitted 3 weeks prior to the program start date. Players will be assigned to a house/rec team based on age and school/home location. Final teams will be confirmed after coaches’ meeting. Our aim is to balance teams while also providing a fun experience for players. Volunteer coaches with a child registered will coach the team to which his/her child has been assigned.

Youth Scholarships: The Parks and Recreation Department has established a Youth Scholarship Program which provides financial assistance to qualifying residents. Visit our webpage for more information or to register: Click Here to complete registration.

Volunteer Coaches: Are essential to this program; without them there is a possibility your child may not have a team to play on.
Acceptance of ALL applicants and number of teams depends on the number of coaches.
Sign up is available during registration.
Team coaches will also be subject to a background check.
Anyone interested in being a coach must attend the scheduled meeting.

Photos: The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to use program or event photographs including participants in official Town of Greenwich media only (Website, newsletter, flyers and advertisements, Facebook, and/or Instagram). Please contact the Recreation Office if you object to the use of photographs of you or your child(ren) in Town media.

Sponsors: Anyone who would like to sponsor a team should email Andrew Karen or call 203-622-7821.
The cost is $500 and the proceeds benefit the Recreation Fund. Checks must be made payable to the "Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation."
Sponsors will receive their logo and/or business information on the team uniform, the league schedule, and logo with hyperlink on our sports recreation website.

General Activity Waitlist Policy
Once maximum enrollment has been reached for activity registration, a participant may elect to be placed on a waitlist. Should additional registration spots become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted in numerical order. Once contacted, if the person is still interested in enrollment in the activity, they will have two business days to make payment for the activity fee. If complete payment is not made within two business days, that person will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the waitlist will be contacted. If the waitlisted person is no longer interested in registering for the activity, then the next person on the waitlist will immediately be contacted. Additionally, if the waitlisted person declines to respond to the Department of Parks and Recreation within two business days, the next person on the waitlist will be contacted.
